18 December 2006 - Polish bakery Nowakowski Piekarnie claims to have developed and launched the longest and the most modern bakery line in Europe.
The new 80-metre-long production line is completely automated and computerised. It has a daily production capacity of 600,000 rolls or 200,000 baguettes, a company spokesperson informed FLEXNEWS.
The line is estimated to have cost about 6 million euro, and return on investment is expected in mid-2008, adds the company.
Nowakowski Piekarnie was established in 1925 and, with 1.5%, has a leading share of the Polish bakery products market.
"We produce 90 kinds of bakery goods. In spite of the fact that consumption of traditional bakery goods is still falling, the company is trying to focus on deep frozen and packed ones", the spokesperson said.
In April, FLEXNEWS reported that Nowakowski-Piekarnie had been acquired for an undisclosed sum by a joint venture Delta Piekarnie Czechy from the Czech Republic and La Lorraine Bakery Group of Belgium. Both of these companies are leaders in their domestic markets.
Nowakowski Piekarnie now plans to focus on ‘eastern markets’, such as Scandinavia, and will try to increase its foreign share of sales in total turnovers up to 20%.
