20 December 2006 - Further to a statement from Greece's competition authority declaring that price fixing was widespread in the dairy industry, Greek dairy giant Vivartia has denied being implicated.

In an announcement sent to FLEXNEWS, Vivartia claims the following:

“On a substantive matter, our company has never participated in agreements that violate the law. On a procedural matter, the handling of the case has led to the emergence of a climate of condemnation and a series of constitutional and other violations which forced VIVARTIA to seek recourse before the Hellenic Competition Authority and the European Commission”.

Vivartia also says that it will defend its stance before the plenary session of the Hellenic Competition Authority and, where necessary, before all competent Greek and European courts and institutions.
