5 January 2007 - China Sun Bio-Chem Technology Group Co Ltd, a manufacturer of modified starch and corn starch, plans to invest about 185 mln yuan (about USD 23.7 mln) in a new facility located in Suzhou (eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu) to produce corn sweeteners.
The plant will have a production capacity of 120,000 tons per year, the company said in a statement obtained by FLEXNEWS.
China Sun also said that the investment will be funded initially by the increase of USD 12 mln in the registered capital in the Company’s Suzhou operating subsidiary, Suzhou Gao Feng Fine Chemicals Company Limited.
"This investment will better position the group, to expand and optimize its production capacity to introduce different corn products to meet market demand," China Sun executive chairman and chief executive Sun Guji said in the statement.
According to the statement, China Sun is the leading modified starch manufacturer and one of the top corn starch producers in China. China Sun produces more than 200 varieties of modified starch products.
The company owns 5 production facilities in China - 2 in Tongliao (Inner Mongolia) and the rest in Shenyang (Liaoning Province), Suzhou (Jiangsu Province) and Shunde (Guangdong Province).
In total, China Sun has the capacity to produce 416,000 tons of corn starch and 172,000 tons of modified starch products annually.
