5 February 2007 - In a move to save costs and improve communication within the group, leading German bakery products firm Kamps AG will be relocating staff this summer from its main site in Dusseldorf to Schwalmtal near Viersen and Garrel near Oldenburg. Dusseldorf has a workforce of about 120.
In a statement, Kamps public relations officer Christina Stylianou confirmed to FLEXNEWS that of the 120 employees, more than 50 will move to Schwalmtal, where the business unit Kamps Bakeries GmbH will be located.
Approximately 40 people will move to Garrel with the Kamps Brot- und Backwaren GmbH unit.
Most of the remaining 40 or so employees, working under Kamps AG and responsible for both business units, will also move to Garrel, added Mrs Stylianou.
Kamps supplies more than 23,000 food retail outlets in Germany with fresh bread and fresh bakery goods under its brand names Golden Toast and Lieken Urkorn, and under private labels and bake-off products. The group also has about 1,000 of its own Kamps bakeries in Germany.
In 2005, Kamps Group's sales amounted to 1.21 billion euro. The company employs over 7,800 people.
Kamps has been 51% owned by Italian bakery, pasta and sauce manufacturer Barilla group since 2002.
