Italian Retail Giant Formed by Conad and Interdis

5 February 2007 - Italian retailers Conad and Interdis have signed a five-year strategic agreement, under which the retailers will share marketing, commercial, and logistics activities, Interdis said in a statement.

Conad and Interdis’ combined activities creates the second largest retail group in Italy, with an 18.9% market share, reports an Italian newspaper.

Currently, the leader in the sector is Coop with a 19.6%market share.

Other leading retailers in Italy are France’s Carrefour, with a 9.4% market share, and Auchan (7.88%), as well as Italy’s Esselunga (6.2%), concluded the paper.
