12 January 2007 - Chemische Fabrik Budenheim KG and Thermphos International B.V. announced today that they signed an agreement to transfer certain business activities related to calcium phosphates from Thermphos to Budenheim, effective January 1st, 2007.
The agreement covers the marketing, distribution and selling rights for specific calcium phosphates manufactured by Thermphos at the Oldbury site in the United Kingdom. To ensure product deliveries without any interruption Thermphos will continue to supply calcium phosphates to Budenheim during 2007. Afterwards Budenheim will serve the markets out of its global production facilities.
“With this step Budenheim will further strengthen its position as the worldwide leading manufacturer and seller of calcium phosphates. This acquisition is an important step to meet the future expectations and quality requirements of customers in such highly sensitive application areas like pharmaceuticals”, said Christian Kohlpaintner, CEO of Budenheim.
“With this divestment, Thermphos continues it’s strategy of focussing on it’s core business within the Specialty Phosphates market, principally in the Food, Water Treatment, Fine Chemical and Industrial sectors. Streamlining our production activities in Europe will enable us to accelerate our plans to expand our global supply network for our sodium, potassium, ammonium, aluminium and blended products, thus ensuring we will continue to provide our customers with the high quality products they require from a local supply point”, said Carlos Galeano, Board Member of Thermphos.
In some countries the completion of the transaction is subject to the notification of and/or clearance by the competent merger authorities, so that in those countries the effective completion of the transaction will be delayed to a date after January 1, 2007, when such requirements have been complied with.
