12 March 2007 - Kirit Pathak, the owner of curry sauce manufacturer Patak's, has reportedly put his business up for sale for GBP 200 million.
UK paper ‘The Independent’ reports that Kirit Pathak has appointed investment bank Rothschild to review strategic options for the business.
The paper goes on to say that Pathak is seeking a buyer or an equity partner to help his business compete with rivals, such as Sharwoods (owned by Premier Foods).
‘Reuters’ reports that possible non-equity buyers may be Heinz or Unilever.
Patak’s employs about 650 people. Approximately half that number work in the company’s production factory in Wigan.
