Turnhout, 14 March 2007 – Miko, the Eurolist by Euronext Brussels listed specialist in coffee service and plastic packaging, achieved a turnover of Euro 90.56 million in 2006. This is an increase of 9 % over the previous year. Around 75 % of the turnover was achieved abroad.
The coffee service activities accounted for 56 % of the group turnover, while the other 44 % was brought in by the plastics division.
The turnover of the coffee service division was up by 8 % compared to 2005. This increase was achieved through organic growth; in France, the Netherlands and England, turnover increased by respectively 17 %, 5 % and 4 %. Relevant for France was the fact that Caf’équip is included for the first time in the figures for the full 12 months. There was a slight increase in Belgium, in spite of the complete lack in 2006 of turnover from water coolers and the relevant water bottles, due to this business being transferred to Sip-Well during 2005. Also included in these figures are the sales of Miko Leo Kaffee in Germany.
Plastic packaging saw a rise in turnover of 11 %. This was achieved by both the Belgian and the Polish plastic packaging subsidiaries, who realised a growth in turnover of respectively 9 and 38 %. Frans Michielsen, CEO of the Miko group, comments: “The growth in both subsidiaries is closely related to a number of major projects which were acquired in the course of 2005 and 2006; these have reached cruising speed in 2006 or will reach it in the course of 2007.”
The final financial results for 2006 will be communicated at the end of March 2007.
