Brussels, March 26 - The European Commission said on Monday it was escalating its dispute with India at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) over what Brussels sees as unfair trade barriers for European wine and spirits exporters.
"After having allowed India a considerable period of time to address the problem, and following WTO consultations with India in December 2006 that failed to resolve the dispute, the EU now seeks a formal ruling from the WTO," the Commission said.
