 Net profit 8.4 -27.0

NOTE: The company said in a statement pre-tax profit was lower mainly because of extraordinary income in the first quarter of 2006. Without extraordinary income Q1 2007 group pre-tax profit would be 31 percent higher than in the same period of 2006.

It said sales rose partly on account of the takeover of Serbian food retailer M-Rodic in late 2006. Excluding sales of M-Rodic, Mercator's sales would be up 9.4 percent in the first quarter of this year.
