11 June 2007 - Activities in Scottish & Newcastle's Kronenbourg brewery in Obernai, eastern France resumed on Friday after workers ended a 4-day strike over compulsory overtime hours, reports the French business media.

Daily News Alerts

The strike movement took place last week as newly-elected President Sarkozy’s government laid out plans to exempt overtime work from taxation.

Kronenbourg introduced compulsory overtime from 2 May 2007. However, an agreement was reached with unions to use overtime to a voluntary basis. Also, the new use of overtime will be tested over the next three months.

The Obernai site employs around 650 workers and is now Kronenbourg's only brewery.
