Chiquita Says Banana Prices down 1% in Core European Markets

June 13 - Chiquita Brands International Inc. said banana prices were down 1 percent in its core European markets on a local currency basis and were flat in North America for the two-month period from April to May.

Banana volume sold in the core European markets fell by 4 percent, while North America witnessed an 8 percent rise in volume sold, the banana producer said in a statement.
